BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The HU volleyball team headed north on Saturday to take on a tough Bridgewater squad and a Greensboro team that Hollins already faced off with once this season.
A tough day of volleyball for Hollins ended with the Eagles and the Pride each coming away with a 3-0 win.
Bridgewater (9-0) came into Saturday's ODAC matchup undefeated and it definitely showed as they dispatched Hollins (6-5) 25-10, 25-10 and 25-22 to send HU to their third straight loss.
The usually potent Hollins offense was stymied against the Eagles, having just 21 kills while committing 17 errors on the match. Tyler Sesker led the way for HU, finishing with six kills. Kenna Esquibel chipped in five. Zoe Brooks had 12 assists to lead the way for HU setters.
Hannah Piatak once again notched double-digit digs with 11.
The second matchup of the day was a rematch of HU's second match of the season and, once again, it was the Pride coming away with the 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-22) victory.
Just like in the first match, the Hollins (6-6) offense couldn't get in rhythm, finishing with just 26 kills while adding 19 errors.
Casey Mahan led the way in the assist department, finishing with 12.
Piatak and Mink were strong on the defensive side, ending with 22 and 15 digs, respectively.
Hollins will continue their ODAC slate on Wednesday as they welcome Guilford to campus. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
