Tennis Kicks off Season in Salem

SALEM, NC. – The Hollins tennis team was on the road on Saturday to kick off their fall season against Salem College.


In number one doubles, the team of Kateri Johnson and Alexis Morring fell 8-1 to Salem's Makenna Mason and Lily Farr. At number two doubles, Jessica Willebeek-LeMair and Leandra Cameron dropped an 8-3 decision to Haley Gilley and Morgan Scholz.


Hollins and Salem split singles with both teams picking up two wins.

At number one, Willebeek-LeMair picked up a tiebreak win over Mason 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) Johnson picked up victory at number two singles over Farr, 6-2, 6-3.

Morring dropped her number three singles match 6-1, 6-1 to Scholz and Cameron fell 6-0, 6-0 to Gilley at the number four slot.


What's Next

Hollins will wrap up their fall season next weekend at the Hollins Fall Tennis Tournament. They'll take on Davis and Elkins, King College and Salem College.
