Swimming Splits Pair in Saturday Tri-meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - On Saturday, Hollins took a trip up 81 to Bridgewater to take on the Eagles and the Bison of Gallaudet in a tri-meet. 

The Green and Gold fell to Bridgewater, 135-103 before picking up a win over GU, 169-73. 

Individual Top Finishers

Emily Miehlke had a big day, picking up two individual wins and a second place. She was tops in the 200 free with a time of 2:29.78 and in the 100 free, touching in 1:06.64She placed second in the 800 freestyle. Teammate Molly Sullivan grabbed a third in the 200 freestyle and a second in the 400 freestyle. 

Megan Bull was second in the 50 backstroke and third in the 100 backstroke. Hanna DeVarona grabbed a win in the 50 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 37.78. She was also second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 100 IM. Summer Jaime finished third in her individual events, picking up points in the 50 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle. 

Senior Alex Sanchez was the winner of the 50 butterfly with a time of 32.74. She also picked up second place finishes in the 50 butterfly and the 50 freestyle. 

Madeline Evangelista, Jules Brell and Jesslyn Hammond also scored points to help pace Hollins. 

Relay Top Finishers

The relay team of Bull, Jaime, Evangelista and Hammond was second in the 200 medley relay while Evangelista, Jaime, Brell and Hammond picked up a third place in the 200 free relay. Sanchez, Miehlke, Bull and DeVarona was first in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:06.55. 

What's Next

Hollins will host Roanoke College in a dual meet next Saturday, Nov. 9. The meet starts at 1 pm.
