Soccer Shuts Out Patrick Henry

PURCELLVILLE, Va. – Nine goals. Two matches.

For the HU (3-3) soccer team, things are starting to click offensively, and it's coming at a perfect time.

The team traveled to Patrick Henry College on Friday and came back to Roanoke with a 6-0 win.

How It Happened

Madisen Charles got the scoring started early, beating the PHC goalkeeper just over five minutes into the match. It's her second-straight match with a game-winner and it was also her third of the season.

Less than eight minutes later, Paige Russell found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Natalie Garner, to put Hollins up 2-0.

In the second half, Stephanie Samoy got in on the scoring, adding her third of the season to keep pace with Charles and giving Hollins a 3-0 lead.

Sydney Pickett made the score 4-0 five minutes later, taking a pass from Charles and beating the keeper. Charles and Samoy each added another goal, and Samoy added an assist, to help the Green and Gold cruise.

Goalkeeper Kendra Rich wasn't challenged in the match, saving the only shot that came her way.
